Dead Can Dance – Album and film score news.

Dead Can Dance to release first new studio album in 6 years.

[sic] Magazine understands that Brendan Perry is in the studio putting the final touches to what will be the bands ninth official album and first since 2012’s Anastasis. Lisa Gerrard has been performing with Voix Bulgares and is also embarking on the “World of Hans Zimmer” orchestral tour (that commenced in Germany on April 28th.) It is understood that Perry assumed musical direction for this new Dead Can Dance release while Gerrard has contributed vocals (and possibly writing) The album is being mastered at the legendary Abbey Road studios. Perry tweeted this news himself over the weekend.

The record currently does not have any further details such as when it is scheduled for release or, as mentioned, its title.

The band has also recorded music for a remastered Blu Ray of Spanish fantasy film Moon Child (which starred Gerrard). At time of press the soundtrack itself is unreleased but the Blu Ray and DVD were made available in April.

Dead Can Dance formed in Melbourne in 1981. Beginning as a Goth act, they expanded their influences and sound to incorporate Eastern Drone, Folk, World and Medieval elements. They are considered one of 4ADs most archetypal bands.
