Thanks and good to speak with you again. 2018 has been a great year for us musically…being able to work on the new album with Phill Brown and Dave Lynch producing, its been an exciting time and being able to release the single ‘Sabbath’ (Their single with Simon Gallup of The Cure) a few weeks ago has been a good send off for our year, now it’s all about next year, the new album release and we’re heading straight back into the studio to record the next one as we’ve been jamming new material on tour so hoping for another full on year and some great gigs.
We asked the band, Matt Tye and Dave Gb Smith to join in with this list so it’s a joint effort this time around!!!
Marlowe – Marlowe
It’s been a few years since anything in hip hop has connected with us – but this is it… great voice, lyrics and has that old school mf doom vibe.
Low – Double Negative.
Seems to be in everyone’s top albums this year. We have grown up with Low and every album is like a new story, with added low fi wonky production it’s an interesting sonic journey.
Part chimp – Cheap thriller
Love this band..all about the bass sound…fat. Exclusive outtakes and on their own imprint label.
Drug Cult – Drug Cult
A big year for female fronted bands, solid black sabbath doom riffing on an outstanding debut.
Holy Fawn – Death Spells
Every song on this album is spectacular. Shoegaze meets doom…opening track Dark stone is a highlight.
Bismuth – The Slow Dying Of The Great Barrier Reef
A 32 minute opener on this years two track release..stunning epic length atmospheric doomdrone.
Jay Jayle – No Trail and Theory Unholy Paths –
The mysterious low voice of Evan Patterson pacing over what can only be described as a dark twangy bluesy guitar feel! Suited to a soundtrack to thriller movies.
Tess Parks & Anton Newcombe –
downtempo rock n roll, slumpy and very ‘poppy’ as in the flower. Her husky vocal is just stunning and every track is as good as the last. and amazing to see live i must add!
Emma Ruth Rundle – On Dark Horses
Marked for Death blew me away so i wasn’t sure how the next album could live up to such work. It did. Dark horses for one is a stunning track, with ifs shifting time signatures and powerful melody and words, it certainly sticks in my head and makes me want more and more. Cracking album! One word, addictive.
Beauty in Chaos – Finding Beauty In Chaos LP
Hearing the album in full was a beautiful surprise. The style is eclectic but cohesive as Michael Ciravolo’s guitar work remains the key element throughout. it was a honour for us to be able to work on this album with Wayne Hussey, Simon Gallup and ICE T, to name but a few of the artists involved. Our song ‘I Will Follow’ reminds me of a painful time in our life but the song is now free and Steven and I have been working on a remix of this track for the next ‘BIC’ album so stay tuned. Michael has quickly become one of my favourite people on the planet.
Thanks so much
Evi & Steven
