Lehi – Shut The Door

Lehi (Pronounced Lee-Hi) is a 24-year-old, solo artist from Hartlepool, Northeast England, who writes, plays, records, and produces his own music.  His debut single ‘I Think I’m Gonna Go Crazy’ was released last June and his second single ‘Shut The Door’ is now set for release later this month.

‘Shut The Door’ offers a bittersweet fusion of catchy summery vibes and heart-wrenching narratives.  This track unfolds as a poignant tale of love lost, with the central theme of a girl exiting a relationship, leaving the protagonist lost and alone.

The layered instrumentation pays homage to iconic eighties pop.  The infectious beats and retro melodies create an atmosphere reminiscent of warm summer nights, inviting the listener to sway to the rhythm while the lyrics unfold a story of romantic upheaval.  The upbeat tempo, combined with the melancholic undertones, creates a compelling contrast that mirrors the emotional rollercoaster of the narrative.

Lyrically, ‘Shut The Door’ paints a vivid picture of heartbreak and abandonment.  The decision to focus on the aftermath of the girl’s departure adds layers of emotional depth.  The singer, left alone to grapple with the echoes of love lost after promises made, reflects the universal experience of heartbreak and the search for closure.  The chorus, with its simple yet impactful refrain, becomes a poignant anthem for those navigating the complexities of a breakup.

The vocals capture the raw emotion of the lyrics.  The singer’s delivery is soulful, expressing the pain of separation and the resilience required to move forward.  The melancholy in the verses contrasts with a hopeful undertone in the chorus, creating a dynamic emotional journey for the listener.  ‘Shut The Door’ successfully marries its eighties inspiration with a contemporary touch, while the polished production has a modern crispness.

‘Shut the Door’ is released on January 26th, 2024 across all major streaming platforms.
