First Glances – Martial Arts
With a youthful, energetic take on Mancunian doom rock, Martial Arts follow their debut single with new song, Defector.
The five piece Martial Arts comprises of Jim Marson, Matthew Pearce, Jack Brown, Tom Dunnell and Jude Collins. Their music this far is by turns frantic, atonal, warm and melodic. As well as ….SHOUTY. With titles such as Warsaw and open tuning reminiscent of Joy Division we might think we have these boys pegged already. Far from it. As well as punk and almost hardcore leanings I hear elements of Fontaines DC, Black Country, New Road and early Idlewild. At present they don’t appear to have much of a social media presence but you can follow them on X plus of course, here.
Warsaw is released via Akoustik Anarkhy.
