First Glances – MOVIELAND
First Glances – MOVIELAND
MOVIELAND? I hear you cry. MOVIELAND can’t be a ‘first glances’. Well no, more of a backwards glance perhaps. The cult Vancouver shoegaze act were a touch ahead of the curve in the early nineties, a time when grunge was elbowing aside the original UK ‘gaze scene. In North America they co-existed on far better terms. Some of the more interesting bands blended the two. MOVIELAND was one such.
“I Relate,” the first advance single from a long-awaited collection of rarities from Alan D. Boyds band. The full collection, Then & Now, is set to be released on December 13th, 2024 by 604 Records. This album will be a treasure trove of demos and unreleased tracks that capture the raw energy of Movieland’s early days. The 604 label has been set up to curate the citys rich heritage with Then & Now the first of many such projects.
Vancouvers buried treasure is soon to be excavated.
